\emph{\`A priori}, le dveloppement se fera en Perl, car c'est l'outil
le plus adapt la manipulation de chanes de caratres, et cela
permettra aussi de s'inspirer du projet \LaTeX 2HTML (qui est sous

\pLaTon{} fonctionnera dans un premier temps sous plateforme Unix
(Linux, Unix, xBSD) munie de Perl, de \LaTeXe{} et de ImageMagick. Un
portage vers les autres plateformes (principalement Windows et MacOS)
sera peut-tre envisag par la suite, mais il s'agira l d'un autre
projet.

Bien sr, \pLaTon{} sera sous licence GPL. Cette licence est

\section{Liste des fonctionnalits par ordre d'importance}

\pLaTon{} devra tre capable de raliser \emph{au moins} les choses
suivantes~: (ces points sont classs par ordre d'importance, de
priorit)

\item convertir un document \LaTeXe{} ``simple'' vers le HTML, sans
quation ni tableau ni figure, mais avec sections et chapitres. Les
premiers types de documents seront ceux dcrits par les classes de

book}. \pLaTon{} devra tre capable de prendre en compte les
changements de graisse ou d'inclinaison du texte (les polices
grasse, italique, soulign, emphatique). Le rsultat se devra d'tre
lgant (et il sera possible d'obtenir des fichiers spars).
\item produire des documents pleinement compatibles HTML~4.01 (voire
XHTML~1.0) et donc validables par le W3C. Cela passe par la
fermeture systmatique de toutes les balises et par l'utilisation
systmatique des balises en minuscule, comme c'est l'usage
actuellement, et ce qui n'est pas le cas de \LaTeX 2HTML.
\item ne pas ncessiter de commandes supplmentaires dans le fichier
source \LaTeX , la diffrence des autres utilitaires de conversion
de \LaTeX{} vers le HTML (ex.~: \LaTeX 2HTML ou HeVeA ncessitent
pour leur part et pour un meilleur rendu un grand nombre de
nouvelles commandes dans le fichier source). Le but est de convertir
tout document \LaTeXe{} sans avoir en modifier le source, comme
c'est le cas avec l'utilitaire \texttt{pdflatex} par exemple.

format utilisera l'utilitaire \texttt{convert} de la suite

rester possible d'insrer des images Postscript (EPS et PS)
converties pour affichage Web par l'utilisation des mmes
ressources que cites prcdemment, et dans le but de pouvoir
convertir tout document \LaTeXe .

manire configurable, afin d'allger la taille des pages cres

franaise, car ce projet est un projet franais, puis des autres

permet dj cela, mais l'utilisation n'est pas automatique et peu

matires} ou \emph{\`A propos de ce document} par exemple ont
dj t crs et il serait jusdicieux de s'en inspirer.

to HTML convertor written in Perl.
You can download it, use it, modify it, redistribute it... your

Going further
This projet, created by Jean-Philippe CAR UANA
and Thomas van
Oudenhove, attemps to replace the LaTeX2HTML program, created by
Nikos DRAKOS.
This program is quite a very good one, but it has some defaults,
and the objectives of the pLaTon project are resolving this problems.
pLaTon will work under Unix architectures (Linux, Unix, xBSD)
provided with Perl, LaTeX and ImageMagick. A port will be maybe

pLaTon - a new LaTeX to HTML convertor
pLaTon is a free (covered by the GPL licence) LaTeX
to HTML convertor written in Perl.
You can download it, use it, modify it, redistribute it... your
choice, your freedom.

This projet, created by Jean-Philippe CAR UANA
and Thomas van
Oudenhove, attemps to replace the LaTeX2HTML program, created by
Nikos DRAKOS.
This program is quite a very good one, but it has some defaults,
and the objectives of the pLaTon project are resolving this problems.
pLaTon will work under Unix architectures (Linux, Unix, xBSD)
provided with Perl, LaTeX and ImageMagick. A port will be maybe
made to other plateforms, maily MacOS and Windows, but this will
not be part of the current project.
pLaTon est un convertisseur gratuit des fichiers LaTeX vers le
HTML, couvert par la licence GPL crit en Perl. Vous pouvez l'utiliser, le
redistribuer, le modifier pour votre propre usage, selon votre bon
vouloir.

portage vers les autres plateformes (principalement Windows et MacOS)
